He ensures the faith of the other council membors by capturing and executing the former System Lord Ba'al. The Jaffa High Council. When a Prior of the ascended beings known as the Ori arrives spreading the religion of Origin , Gerak is quick to believe after seeing their power is real unlike that of the Goa'uld.
He urges the council to accept Origin and make it law. With civil war on the horizon, between those who wish to follow Origin and those who do not want to serve another set of false gods, Gerak even becomes a Prior as proof of the power of the Ori.
Using the past as a motivator, Teal'c manages to convince Gerak that the promises of the Ori are false and allowing them to destroy the freedom they fought for would be wrong.
Gerak helps the Tau'ri heal the plague another prior had inflicted on members of the SGC and as punnishment was burned to death. The death of Gerak allowed for the democratic nation Teal'c envisioned. The Jaffa nation remains in danger however due to the Ori invasion of the Milky Way.
After the final defeat of the Ori at the hands of the Tau'ri , the Jaffa continue to rebuild and enjoy their freedom [1]. The Jaffa were created from the human slaves taken from Earth by the Goa'uld. They were genetically altered to function as incubators for Goa'uld young. The process ensures compatibility and the success of implantation once the Goa'uld matures and takes a host.
Jaffa children are implanted with a larval Goa'uld when they reach the age of of implantation, approximately ten-years old. Honored Jaffa are granted a ceremony of prim'tah during which the implantation is performed. If the implantation is not completed before the Age of Prata puberty , the Jaffa child will die as a result of a failing immune system. During the implantation process, an X is cut on the stomach to create a pouch for the larva.
The pouch never closes completely and the symbiote can be removed at any time and must be removed and replaced by a new larva once it matures in about seven years. The symbiote replaces the immune system completely and without one a Jaffa will die a painful death in only a few hours.
The symbiote grants a Jaffa increased physical strength, health, and longevity. They may live in great health for well over a hundred years. This time allows the symbiote to repair any injuries to the Jaffa's body and is neccessary to maintain good health. It is possible for a Jaffa to communicate with the symbiote during kelno'reem , as in the case of the Jaffa priestess Shan'auc. On the planet Pangar , humans developed a drug made from goa'uld symbiotes known as Tretonin.
The drug functioned much like a symbiote replacing the immune system of the humans who used it and granting them immunity from disease and increased longevity. In a series of grand events, Anubis was prevented from completing his goal of galactic destruction by Oma Desala , the Replicators were destroyed by a temporary alliance of Ba'al , Lt. This was heightened by the fact that Ba'al fled when rebel Jaffa boarded his ship: it completely shattered the Goa'uld's image as gods and the Jaffa started abandoning their masters by the droves to flock to the side of the rebellion.
SG1 : " Reckoning, Part 2 ". Teal'c is a strong influence on the High Council representing the Jaffa nations. His hope is to create a democratic nation elected by the people. There is opposition to this idea however. Gerak believes council representation should be determined by the military strength of the vying coalitions. Despite Teal'c's attempts to sway the council, Gerak becomes the leader of the council. He ensures the faith of the other council members by capturing and executing the former System Lord Ba'al, though it turns out be just a clone.

Gerak helps the Tau'ri to heal the plague another Prior had inflicted on members of Stargate Command , knowing that he would be burned alive as punishment. The death of Gerak allows for the democratic nation Teal'c envisioned. The Jaffa nation remains in danger however due to the Ori invasion of the Milky Way. The Jaffa suffered a serious blow when their new homeworld of Dakara was destroyed by Adria , the leader of the Ori army, but they continued to war with the Ori.
SG1 : " Stronghold ", " Counterstrike ". After the final defeat of the Ori at the hands of the Tau'ri , the Jaffa continued to rebuild and enjoy their freedom. Stargate: Continuum. The Jaffa were human slaves taken from Earth by the Goa'uld , genetically altered to be dependent upon their function as incubators for Goa'uld larva.
The process ensures compatibility and the success of implantation once the Goa'uld matures and takes a host, but also effectively enslaves the Jaffa to the Goa'uld. SG1 : " Children of the Gods ". Jaffa children are implanted with a larval Goa'uld when they reach the age of implantation, approximately ten-years old. Honored Jaffa are granted a ceremony of Prim'ta during which the implantation is performed.
If the implantation is not completed before the Age of Prata puberty , the Jaffa child will die as a result of a failing immune system. During the implantation process, an "X" shaped mark is cut on the abdomen to create a pouch for the larva. This pouch never completely closes, meaning the larval Goa'uld inside can be physically inserted or removed at any time. The symbiote replaces the Jaffa's missing immune system completely; without one a Jaffa will die a painful death in only a few hours.
Thus, Jaffa, both male and female, served the Goa'uld by practicing the rituals of worship associated with recognizing the Goa'uld as a god. While carrying a symbiote, a Jaffa must engage regularly in kel'no'reem, a type of meditation or hibernation during which the symbiote heals the Jaffa of illness or injury. Teal'c explained the process to O'Neill, "Relax.
You must imagine the center of your mind and focus. Allow it to take you into a waking sleep. There you will dream. When you do so, it will be in harmony with the symbiote.
Your subconscious minds will be as one. At that moment, you will have achieved kelno'reem. Here the symbiote will receive information necessary to repair your sickness. This touching of the minds was strictly prohibited and could lead to the Jaffa's death once the Goa'uld took a host and could act upon this mental invasion.
When the symbiote matures, it is removed from the Jaffa and placed in a host, usually a human, thereby becoming a Goa'uld who can act and communicate on his own.
The Jaffa must then receive a new symbiote or die. If a Jaffa warrior had survived the many battles to become old, his body would eventually be rejected by a symbiote. That is how an old Jaffa dies. Master Bra'tac reached the age of when he had his last symbiote, but he survived the loss with the use of a drug called Tretonin that substituted for his immune system. This drug was first developed by the Pangarans for the use in humans unsuccessfully and refined for the Jaffa's use by the Tok'ra so that their dependence on the Goa'uld would end.
Teal'c himself has survived over 54 years on Tretonin alone, bringing his age up to well over years. The Goa'uld branded their Jaffa slaves with tattoos on their foreheads. The majority of these tattoos were black, but if one were a high priest or priestess, or a First Prime in the army, then the tattoo would be made by cutting the skin with a knife and pouring molten gold into it.
This process was "tremendously" painful, but was considered a great honor. If all Goa'uld were given human hosts, who would do the work? There'll be a lot of spoiled, arrogant and despotic human figures walking around with few unblended humans to tend to them. Improve this answer. Tango Tango k 81 81 gold badges silver badges bronze badges. They looked fully-grown to me. Which makes some sense, no reason to waste Jaffa I did not intend to suggest that larvae were rare, rather adult ones were.
I have hopefully clarified my question. Adults are rare or just the implanted ones because so many of them are eaten by Goa'ulds in human form. If you like, I can rephrase in my answer. But I was basing all I said on facts in the series and not on supposition or conjecture or creating theories that have no basis in the show.
